Enterprise Hubs
Since 1999, SEEDA has established the
Enterprise Hub principle in regional planning setting up 15 Enterprise
Hubs - business incubation establishments - at key locations throughout
the South East, providing workspace and support for over 520 start-up
high-tech companies.
Enterprise Hubs can be small or large and on a
scale appropriate to the area they serve.
Ford offers the opportunity to focus new
development around a multi modal transport hub and so meets the criteria
for an Enterprise Hub.
FEH addresses the transport; employment and land
use issues facing Arun District in the period after 2011 and will make a
positive contribution to the identified economic and employment
priorities for the District as a whole and in particular the
regeneration of the coastal towns.
FEH includes proposals for:
- A new Science or Technology Park – with higher
quality, well-paid jobs and the opportunity to develop links with
local universities, the Learning and Skills Council etc.
- A new link road from the A259 at Comet Corner,
to the A27, bridging the railway at Ford.
- A solution to numerous road transport issues
which, in turn, help to create an infrastructure attractive to
business.
- A
Parkway railway station – with ample parking
at the centre of a new multi modal
transport hub.
- New
homes - looking directly towards the local economies
of Bognor and Littlehampton.
- Expanded marina facilities at Littlehampton
